Mechman high output alternators · Authorized dealer
The Matrix makes a smart first audio build: a practical hatch, a flat cargo floor for a subwoofer box and a budget that leaves room for a proper amplifier. Get the power side right from the start with a Toyota Matrix high output alternator. This page lists Mechman units for 2009-2013 Matrix models with the 1.8L and 2.4L engines.
Most Matrix builds start simple: a sealed or ported box in the hatch, a mono amplifier and a four-channel for the doors. Then the second sub arrives. A hatchback has no trunk wall between the bass and the cabin, so it gets loud quickly, and owners turn it up. A Toyota Matrix high output alternator handles that growth without forcing a second charging upgrade later. Plenty of Matrix owners build their first system on a starter budget, so buying the alternator once matters.
Three fitments come up in the finder at the top of the page, and the 1.8L is the one to watch. The 2009-2010 1.8L and the 2011-2013 1.8L use different Mechman series, even though the engine size is the same. The 2009-2013 2.4L uses a third series. If you are unsure of your engine, check the emissions label under the hood. Check your model year carefully before choosing a Toyota Matrix high output alternator.
Both are Mechman high output alternators, a solid foundation for a build that will grow.
The alternator is only part of the job. A Big 3 upgrade and a properly sized power run from our amp wiring kits keep voltage up at the amplifier, and a healthy battery from our battery collection buffers the peaks. If the alternator plug is worn, our alternator harnesses and regulators have replacements. Getting these basics right on day one saves rewiring when the build grows.
