Lithium batteries call for a different charge profile than AGM, and XS Power IntelliCHARGER lithium battery chargers are designed for that job. Lead-acid chargers often use desulfation, equalize or float stages that do not suit lithium cells, and some can push voltage past what a lithium battery should see. Lithium battery chargers follow the voltage limits the chemistry calls for and stop or hold correctly at full charge. Lithium titanate (LTO) and lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) also use different voltage ranges, so the charger must match the battery's chemistry as well as its nominal voltage.
Choose a 12V, 14V or 16V charger to match the battery. A 14V lithium titanate bank needs a 14V lithium charger, and a 16V racing battery needs a 16V unit. Using the wrong voltage either leaves the battery short of full charge or risks overcharging it.
Larger banks and multiple batteries in parallel recover faster with a higher-amperage unit, while a single compact racing battery may only need a smaller charger for top-offs between rounds. For long storage, follow the battery maker's guidance on the charge level to keep.
Charge in a ventilated area, connect to clean terminals, and disconnect or isolate the battery from the vehicle if the instructions call for it.
