Marine High Output Alternators

A wake boat at the sandbar asks a lot of its charging system: tower speakers, ballast pumps, lighting and a stereo that plays between pulls. This collection gathers the Mechman marine high output alternators we list for ski and wakeboard boats, in 170 and 250 Amp, for 11SI and 12SI bolt patterns and for GM LS/LT and Ford T-mount marine V8s.

Marine units by engine and bolt pattern

  • 12SI, 6.61-inch bolt pattern: 170 Amp units with a V-belt pulley or a 6-groove serpentine pulley, plus a reverse rotation 170 Amp version with a V-belt pulley.
  • 11SI: a 170 Amp unit built to replace the 20827 11SI.
  • GM LS and LT marine V8s: 170 Amp and 250 Amp Large Case units for late model GM LS engines.
  • Ford T-mount: a 250 Amp Large Case unit for late model Ford T-mount engines, listed for 6.2L Ford-based V8s.

Each marine high output alternator here is listed by engine family and bolt pattern rather than by boat brand. The finder at the top of the page narrows the list to your application. Match engine, bolt pattern, pulley type and rotation before you choose.

Choosing output for the boat

A 170 Amp marine high output alternator suits a boat with a moderate tower system, lighting and pumps. 250 Amp Large Case units are for boats running several amplifiers and heavier accessory loads, where recharging between sets matters. Boats spend long stretches at low engine speed with the stereo playing, so plan output around your real accessory load, not the minimum that gets you home. If your 12SI-pattern engine needs reverse rotation, check the reverse rotation 170 Amp unit.

Batteries and wiring

More output only helps if the batteries can take it. Look at our batteries, including AGM batteries, and run heavier cable between alternator, batteries and ground with amp wiring kits. To compare road vehicle units, browse all alternators.
