Chargers

Keeping a big battery bank healthy takes more than an alternator, which is why XS Power car audio battery chargers and maintainers belong in serious builds. Use them to recover a bank after a long demo, hold batteries at full charge during storage, or top off between competition rounds.

Car Audio Bargain is an authorized XS Power dealer in Newton, North Carolina, ready to help you match a charger to your batteries.

Choosing Car Audio Battery Chargers

The first rule is simple: the charger must match the battery's chemistry and nominal voltage. AGM and lithium batteries want different charge profiles, and a lithium battery should never be charged on a lead-acid mode that applies desulfation pulses. Likewise, a 14V or 16V battery needs a charger built for that voltage, because a 12V unit stops short of the voltage those batteries need to reach full charge. Each XS Power listing states the voltage and battery types it supports, so confirm the match before you order.

Amperage and Bank Size

Charger output current determines how quickly a depleted bank recovers. A low-output maintainer is ideal for keeping a single battery topped off while a vehicle sits, while higher-current car audio battery chargers make sense for multi-battery banks or for recharging between rounds at a show. As a rough guide, more total amp-hour capacity calls for more charger current if you want reasonable recharge times.

Models in This Collection

The lineup includes XS Power models such as the 1004, 1005 and 1005E, the HF1208, HF1215, HF1415 and HF1615, the PSC15, PSC30, PSC60 and PSC90, the PB-6.0 and PB-13.0, and the Li1625. Read each product page for its output, voltage settings and chemistry compatibility.

Pairing a Charger With Your System

A charger works alongside a healthy charging system, not instead of one. If your batteries regularly run down during normal driving, the alternator may be undersized for your amplifiers, and an upgrade from the alternators collection is the long-term fix. Browse AGM car audio batteries and 16 volt batteries to match car audio battery chargers to your bank, and see the full electrical range for fuses and cable. If you hardwire a charger to a remote bank, fuse the lead near the battery.
