Batteries

Car audio batteries carry the load when your amplifiers pull more current than the alternator can supply on a bass hit. This collection gathers XS Power and Sundown Audio AGM and lithium batteries, plus XS Power SuperBank capacitor modules, for daily drivers, powersports rigs and competition vehicles.

Car Audio Bargain is an authorized dealer shipping from North Carolina, and our team can help size a battery or capacitor bank to your amplifier wattage.

How to Choose Car Audio Batteries

Begin with three questions: what voltage your charging system runs, how much amplifier power you have, and where the battery will live. Most vehicles run a 12 volt system, so a 12V battery is the default. Higher-voltage 14V and 16V batteries only make sense when the alternator or charger is set up for them and every connected device is rated for the higher voltage.

Chemistry comes next. AGM (absorbed glass mat) batteries are sealed, spill resistant and comfortable on a typical factory charging system. Lithium batteries, including LiFePO4 and lithium titanate, weigh less for their output and hold voltage higher under load, but they need a charging voltage and charger suited to lithium. Compare AGM car audio batteries with lithium car audio batteries to see the trade-offs side by side.

Physical Fit and Placement

Check the BCI group size, terminal layout and dimensions before ordering. Group sizes such as 31, 34 and 78, along with powersports formats like 14L and 20L, appear throughout the XS Power range, and the Sundown Powersports SPS-950 and SPS-1500 serve motorcycles, UTVs and other compact installs. A battery in the trunk or cargo area needs secure mounting, a fused cable near the battery and a solid ground to the chassis.

Batteries, Capacitors and Charging

A second battery in the rear adds reserve capacity close to the amplifiers. When you wire batteries in parallel, keep them at the same voltage, ideally the same chemistry and similar age; where chemistries differ, use an isolator. SuperBank modules in this collection, such as the SB1500-75 and US1100-31, handle very fast current spikes but store far less energy than a battery, so they complement a battery bank rather than replace it. If your bank outgrows the stock alternator, look at high-output alternators, and connect everything with heavy 1/0 AWG power wire. Return to the full electrical department for chargers, fuses and terminals.
