Hummer High Output Alternators

Hummer owners build for the trail and for the show: winches, rock lights, roof racks loaded with gear, and stereos that match the truck's presence. Every Hummer high output alternator on this page fits a 2003-2010 model, most with a GM V8 under the hood. Choose your model or use the vehicle finder to filter the grid by year and engine.

H2, H1 and the 5.3L V8 trucks

The Hummer H2 alternator page carries most of the selection, covering the 2003-2007 6.0L and 2008-2009 6.2L trucks. Because the H2 shares its V8s with GM full-size trucks, owners get the same wide spread of outputs and finishes. Diesel H1 owners have a smaller group of units on the Hummer H1 page, and 2008-2010 trucks with the 5.3L V8 are listed separately as well, so confirm your model, year and engine in the vehicle finder before ordering.

H2 owners who mount a front winch, light bars and an onboard air compressor often use them together on the trail, at low engine speed, which is exactly when a stock charging system falls behind. More output keeps the battery from draining during a long recovery or a slow crawl.

How much output a Hummer build needs

A 170 or 240 Amp Hummer high output alternator keeps up with a light bar and a modest stereo. 250 and 320 Amp suit a winch, air compressor and auxiliary lighting used together. 370 and 400 Amp are for overland rigs with fridges and inverters, or show trucks with competition audio. About seven in ten Hummer units use a billet housing, machined from solid aluminum, which holds up well to heat and vibration off-road. Finishes range from black and natural to chrome, polished, red, blue and more.

Wiring and batteries for the trail

Mechman high output alternators should be paired with cable rated for the current: start with a Big 3 wiring kit, then add a battery from our batteries to handle winch pulls. If a plug or regulator change is needed, see harnesses and regulators. Hummer units sit alongside Chevrolet and GMC trucks on all GM alternators, and every make is on our alternator collection.
