The Avalanche blurs the line between pickup and SUV, and owners use it that way. One weekend it hauls lumber with the midgate down. The next it is a tailgate base with speakers aimed out of the bed, LED bed lights and a fridge. Campers add a roof rack light, an air compressor and an inverter for camp gear.
