250 amp alternator for VW 2.5L Rabbit / Jetta / Beetle

The 250 amp Elite series alternator offers the highest possible durability available in a large case alternator. 6 phase technology combined with massive twin rectifier assemblies and 12 diodes makes these alternators totally durable for daily use, while still maintaining 160+ amps at engine idle speeds. MechMan alternators for advertised VW applications use the stock length drive belt. NOTE: The technical drawing for this alternator shows a 6 groove pulley.

This part number will ship with a 5 groove pulley so that it fits the applications it is advertised for. This is also the reason why a 370 amp version is not offered- a 5 rib belt starts to slip on the alternator pulley at anything above about 275 amps output.
