Jeep Commander High Output Alternators

The Commander was built for only five model years, and owners who still drive one tend to keep it going on purpose. Many of these Jeeps are now due for a charging system refresh, which is the right moment to plan for a modern head unit, an amplifier or trail lighting. Every Jeep Commander high output alternator here matches a 2006-2010 year and engine in our fitment data.

Refreshing a Five-Year Jeep

Older vehicles can show charging trouble gradually: slow cranking on cold mornings, dim lights at idle and a battery that never seems fully charged. Replacing a worn unit with a Jeep Commander high output alternator covers the repair and adds capacity at the same time. That extra capacity supports the upgrades many owners make to keep the Jeep current, such as a touchscreen head unit, an amplifier and subwoofer tucked into the cargo area, and LED lights for dirt roads and campsites. Many Commanders also tow a small camper or a pair of dirt bikes, which adds trailer lighting to the list.

Four Combinations in Five Model Years

Commander fitment comes down to year and engine. The 2006 3.7L and 4.7L share one series, and the 2006 5.7L Hemi uses another. For 2007-2010, the 3.7L and 4.7L move to a later series, and the 5.7L uses its own. That gives four combinations across a short run, so enter your year and engine in the finder at the top of the page before choosing a Jeep Commander high output alternator.

Choosing Between 240 and 320 Amp

Mechman high output alternators for the Commander come in 240 and 320 Amp, in a natural finish, and options vary by engine. A 240 Amp unit handles a new head unit, a compact amplifier and some LED lighting. A 320 Amp unit fits a multi-amp audio system, a fridge for camping trips or a winch and light setup for trail use.

Pair the alternator with a fresh battery, upgraded cable from our amp wiring kits and, on a high-mileage Jeep, a replacement plug from alternator harnesses and regulators. Other Jeep models are in the Dodge, Ram, Jeep and Chrysler collection.
