Dodge Nitro High Output Alternators

Big wheels, a boxy stance and a hatch that opens onto a usable cargo floor made the Nitro a natural fit for custom builds. Many owners start with a sub box and one amplifier and keep adding from there. Every Dodge Nitro high output alternator on this page matches one of two 2007-2011 engines in our fitment data, the 3.7L V6 or the 4.0L V6.

A Compact SUV With Room for a System

The Nitro is small outside but practical in back. A ported enclosure can sit across the cargo floor, an amplifier can mount on the back of the rear seat, and the build still leaves space for groceries. As the system grows, so does the draw on the charging system. A Dodge Nitro high output alternator keeps voltage up when the bass hits, which protects amplifier output and stops the headlights from pulsing with the music. It is often the upgrade that lets a first system become a second, bigger one.

Two Engines, Two Alternator Series

Nitro fitment is short and simple. The 2007-2011 3.7L V6 uses one series, and the 2007-2011 4.0L V6 uses a different one, and the 4.0L is the larger of the two. The amperage options may not be the same for both engines, so confirm which engine your Nitro has, select it in the vehicle finder at the top of the page, then filter by output before choosing a Dodge Nitro high output alternator.

Choosing 240, 320 or 370 Amp

  • 240 Amp: a single amplifier around 2,000 W and one subwoofer.
  • 320 Amp: two or three amplifiers running a full system with upgraded door speakers.
  • 370 Amp: a show-oriented build with a large enclosure, offered on fewer fitments.

All Mechman high output alternators here come in a natural finish. Pair yours with a Big 3 upgrade from our amp wiring kits and an AGM battery. Need more room for the system? The Dodge Durango page covers the larger three-row SUV, and the Dodge, Ram, Jeep and Chrysler collection lists every other model.
