Dodge Charger High Output Alternators

Four doors, a deep trunk and a long list of V6 and V8 options have made the Charger a favorite base for loud systems. Builders wall off the trunk, stack amplifiers and still drive the car to work on Monday. Each Dodge Charger high output alternator on this page matches our fitment data for its year and engine, from the 2006 launch cars through 2021.

Feeding a Trunk Wall

A competition-style build asks a lot from a charging system. Long bass notes at high volume drop voltage fast, and every dip cuts into amplifier output and works the batteries harder. Owners chasing numbers at a meet, or just running a loud daily driver, usually add a second battery and heavy cable alongside a Dodge Charger high output alternator so voltage holds during a full-tilt run. The alternator is what refills that battery bank between songs.

From the Launch Cars to the 6.2L Years

Charging hardware on the Charger follows the model's updates. The 2006-2007 cars use one series across the 2.7L, 3.5L, 5.7L and 6.1L. The 2008-2010 cars use a later series for those same engines. From 2011 the 3.6L V6 gets its own unit through 2021, while the 5.7L and 6.4L V8s share a series through 2020, and the 2015-2019 supercharged 6.2L uses it as well. The vehicle finder above sorts this out for you, so enter your year and engine before you choose a Dodge Charger high output alternator.

Amperage for Loud Builds

  • 240 Amp: one large amplifier, about 2,000 W, and a single subwoofer box.
  • 320 Amp: a multi-amp setup with a secondary battery for regular loud listening.
  • 370 Amp: a full trunk wall built for meets, offered on fewer fitments.

All Mechman high output alternators here come in a natural finish. Add Big 3 and amp wiring and a lithium battery for the second bank, and check alternator harnesses and regulators if your install needs a new plug. Chrysler owners will find the same platform on the Chrysler 300 page, and the full Dodge, Ram, Jeep and Chrysler collection lists every model.
