Buick Lucerne High Output Alternators

Buick's Lucerne offered three engines in six model years, and each one takes its own alternator series. That makes shopping simple once you know what is under the hood. Mechman lists a Buick Lucerne high output alternator for the 2006-2008 3.8L V6, the 2006-2011 4.6L Northstar V8 and the 2009-2011 3.9L V6, in 240 or 320 Amp.

Engine First, Everything Else Second

Unlike many GM sedans, the Lucerne has no series shared across engines on this page. The 3.8L, the 4.6L Northstar and the 3.9L each have a dedicated family. The 3.9L listing is built for the Lucerne in particular, and the 3.8L uses a series built for late front-drive GM V6 cars. Watch the overlap in years: a 2008 Lucerne could have the 3.8L or the 4.6L, and a 2010 could have the 3.9L or the 4.6L. Confirm the engine from your VIN or the engine cover, then select it in the vehicle finder above.

A Highway Cruiser With Room to Add

Lucerne drivers value a smooth, quiet ride, and most keep the factory head unit. The common upgrade is an amplifier and a compact subwoofer hidden in the trunk, sometimes with a dash camera, rear-seat chargers or an inverter for a laptop on road trips. Those loads add up on long night drives with the climate control running. A Buick Lucerne high output alternator supports that extra draw so the factory electronics stay happy.

240 or 320 Amp?

  • 240 Amp: right for one amplifier and accessories on a factory-based system.
  • 320 Amp: for two amplifiers or a larger subwoofer setup.

If a second amplifier is likely later, 320 Amp saves doing the job twice. All options here are natural-finish Mechman high output alternators.

To get full value from a Buick Lucerne high output alternator, upgrade the charging cable with a Big 3 kit and check the condition of your battery. Other Buick, Cadillac and Chevrolet fitments are listed in our GM alternator collection.
