Buick Allure High Output Alternators

The Allure was the Canadian-market name for Buick's midsize LaCrosse sedan, and it ran two very different engines. This Buick Allure high output alternator collection lists four Mechman units: 240 Amp and 320 Amp versions for the 2006-2009 3.8L V6, plus 240 Amp and 320 Amp versions for the 2008-2009 5.3L V8.

Pick the Engine First, Then the Output

The 3.8L V6 and the 5.3L V8 use different alternator families, so the first step is knowing what sits under your hood. V6 cars cover the full 2006-2009 span, while the V8 appears in 2008-2009 models. Enter your year and engine in the vehicle finder above the products and the list narrows to the two Mechman high output alternators that fit.

Within each family the choice is the same. The 240 Amp unit handles a single amplifier, a subwoofer and the usual accessories. The 320 Amp unit is the pick for a multi-amp system or an owner who also runs a dash camera, added lighting and a larger battery. A Buick Allure high output alternator is a sensible upgrade on either engine, since these sedans are now old enough that the original unit may be near the end of its service life.

The V6 and V8 units are shared with related GM front-drive cars, which you can compare on the Pontiac Grand Prix and Chevrolet Monte Carlo pages. For more Buick fitments, head to the Buick alternators page, and pair your new unit with cable from our amp wiring kits.
