An ultracapacitor stores energy electrostatically rather than chemically. Its very low internal resistance lets it deliver and absorb large currents almost instantly, which helps hold system voltage steady during short, heavy bass notes. The trade-off is capacity: a capacitor module stores a small fraction of the energy of a battery of similar size, so it cannot run a system on its own for long. Think of SuperBank ultra capacitors as a buffer that works with your batteries and alternator, not as a replacement for either.
The module must suit your electrical system. A 12 volt vehicle needs a module rated above its normal charging voltage, and builds running a 14V or 16V battery bank need a module rated for that higher voltage. Never connect a capacitor bank to a system whose voltage can exceed the module's rating.
SuperBank models such as the SB430-16, SB630-51, SB1000-27, SB1260-31 and SB1500-75 come in different sizes, and the US1100-31 offers another option. Choose by available space and by how much transient support your amplifiers need, then mount the module close to the amplifiers with short, heavy cables so its low resistance is not wasted on long wire runs. Follow the installation instructions for each module, including any pre-charge steps the manufacturer specifies.
Most systems get the most from SuperBank ultra capacitors when they are paired with a quality battery from the AGM or lithium collections. Size the main power runs for the full current draw with 1/0 AWG power wire, protect them with proper fuses and holders, and return to the electrical department for chargers and accessories. If voltage still sags after adding storage, the charging system is usually the next upgrade.
