The 4.3L Bravada in particular has a wide choice of Oldsmobile high output alternator options, thanks to its compact-truck roots. The Oldsmobile Bravada alternator page holds nearly all of the selection, covering 1991-1993 and 1996-2001 models with the 4.3L V6. The Bravada was built on GM's compact S-series SUV platform, so it shares a broad range of outputs, housings and finishes with those trucks. The two year spans are listed separately, so choose your year carefully in the vehicle finder.
The Alero is listed for 1999-2004 cars with the 3.4L V6 and 2002-2004 cars with the 2.2L Ecotec, and the Cutlass for 1998-2001 with the 3.1L. Both take 240 or 320 Amp units in a standard housing, a good fit for a sedan with an amplifier and subwoofer in the trunk.
A Bravada owner choosing an Oldsmobile high output alternator can pick 170, 240, 250, 320, 370 or 400 Amp. 170 and 240 Amp cover a modest stereo and lighting, 250 and 320 Amp a multi-amp system or towing setup, and 370 and 400 Amp competition audio. The Bravada is all-wheel drive and often used for towing, so owners commonly add trailer wiring, auxiliary lights and a stereo, and the extra output keeps up with all three. More than half of the Oldsmobile units use billet housings machined from solid aluminum, offered in finishes from black and natural to chrome, red, blue and purple.
