Accessories That Earn a Spot in Your Build

Car audio accessories fall into four jobs: watching the electrical system, controlling the system from the driver's seat, managing heat and finishing the wiring. Deciding which job matters most for your vehicle narrows the choice quickly.

Monitoring voltage and current

A voltmeter is the simplest way to see what your charging system is doing while the bass hits. Sparked Innovations offers single and dual battery voltmeters, a DC voltmeter battery capacity monitor with an onboard capacitive touch switch, and The Conductor, an all-in-one ground distribution block with a built-in 1000A ammeter. Browse them under Gauges & Voltmeters.

Control and switching

A remote bass knob lets you trim subwoofer level without reaching back to the amplifier. The CAB Remote Bass Knob Control and the Sundown SALT Bass Knob are each designed around their own amplifier families, so confirm the knob matches your amp's remote port. For lights, fans and turn-on circuits, Sparked latching and momentary LED push buttons live in Switches & Panels.

Heat and environment

Amplifiers lose efficiency and can drop into thermal protection when they run hot. Sparked cooling fans move air across an amp rack, and the 12 volt thermometers in Temperature Sensors & Relays show trunk or amp rack temperature at a glance. Leave open space around each amplifier so the fans have air to work with.

Finishing the Install

Small parts often decide whether a system runs cleanly. The Full Tilt HQ Series strapping cable links amplifiers set up to work together, and Full Tilt fuses protect power runs at the battery. Pair them with a properly sized amp wiring kit and quality fuses and fuse holders so every circuit is protected at its source.

Not sure where to start? Add a voltmeter first. It tells you whether your electrical system needs attention before you add more car audio accessories or more power, and it costs little compared with replacing a battery or amplifier pushed too far.
